The Blinding Knife has been nominated for another book award — or rather, the German translation, Die Blendende Klinge, has been nominated. If you’re a German-language reader and lover of fantasy, please consider voting for my book HERE. The polls close on November 28th, and the winners will be announced on November 29th.
A special thanks to Hans Link and Clemens Brunn, my German translators for their vital work.
As you know, Brent is up for The David Gemmell Legend Award. The organizers have been running a series of interviews with the finalists, and they’ve just posted Brent’s interview. You can go HERE to see why Brent really wants to take home Snaga, how he feels about fantasy becoming a more international genre, and why he chose to write Lightbringer in the first place.
P.S. If you haven’t voted yet, go HERE to cast your ballot for The Blinding Knife!
Brent promised to pick one random entry for the fan art contest entry, and we have a winner!
Emily E. won for her double-submission of these images (though we only counted them as one when Brent randomly selected a winner):
The prize was originally for a signed copy of The Black Prism in trade paperback, but since it’s taken us a while to post all the entries, we’re also going to send the winner a signed copy of The Blinding Knife in trade paperback.
We’ll be running another contest soon, so keep an eye on the site.
As part of the launch for the new Blinding Knife trade paperback, Orbit has posted Brent’s musings on “The Best Possible Betrayal, or The Fine Art of the Plot Twist in Your Back.” And we know how well Brent does a plot twist. Go HERE to read it.
The Blinding Knife is available today in trade paperback online and in bookstores everywhere. Go HERE to order yours if you haven’t already.
What will you get?
1. TWO exclusive chapters of The Broken Eye, the next book in The Lightbringer Series (remember THIS? Now you can actually read it!)*
2. A complete glossary, character list, map and appendix of The Lightbringer world.
3. A more compact version to hand off to friends and family:
4. And look how well it goes together with The Black Prism trade paperback!
*UPDATE FROM BRENT for UK READERS: Those of you who get the copy distributed from the U.K. WILL NOT find the extra chapters. I’m really sorry about this — I only found about it about a week ago (after the printing was already completed). I hope you really enjoy Brian McClellan’s chapters of Promise of Blood, which is there instead. All the other extras are there.
To celebrate the launch of the trade paperback version of The Blinding Knife, Brent is giving away three signed copies via Goodreads. The contest ends next Tuesday, August 27th — the same day as the book release — so go HERE for a chance to win. (This giveaway is for the U.S. only, though we plan to do some more international giveaways in the near future!)
Besides the awesome appendix, character list, and glossary included in the hardcover edition, the trade paperback also has the first two chapters of The Broken Eye. Click on any of the icons below to pre-order your copy!
Just a reminder: If you haven’t already, be sure to vote for The Blinding Knife HERE to make it through the “long list” round. Voting closes July 31st, so cast your vote as soon as possible! (The shortlist will be up in September.) Voting is super-easy — it literally takes two clicks.
