r/Books Ask Me Anything!

I’m going live basically right now to answer questions over at Reddit’s subforum r/Books. If you have a question that I haven’t answered or that you’d like to see if I answer it again in some different way, please come and join us and ask your questions. Or just lurk.

Any questions I don’t get to tonight I will try to revisit tomorrow, although I generally tap out after about 20 hours. Hope to see you there!

So I’m sure you’ve answered this before and it is probably somewhere on this site, but I’m lazy and this is here. Any book recommendations to hold me over while I wait for more Lightbringer? You are my favorite author by a mile and I would love another series to get into.

      Hey Jackson,

Brent Weeks is one of my favorite authors as well! So thought I would leave some recommendations here in order of similarity, most similar come first…

The Broken Empire by Mark Lawrence- A bit darker than weeks but good quick read to tide you over. Comparable to Dark Angel series

Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson – Unfinished epic fantasy series that is slower paced than Weeks but characters are well developed. Comparable to Lightbringer series

Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss – First person narrative so a bit different than 3rd person limited you get with the others but the writing is fantastic

Also, nice picture Brent Weeks! Haha

Love this poll. Can’t decide how to answer. Can we assume that by this stage Lightbringer is finished?

My husband and I have been waiting so patiently for the fourth book in the lightbringer series which was supposed to be out near the end of 2015. I can’t seem to find anything about it other than a reference to the title under a description of one of the other books in the series. Is it out already? Or if it isn’t, when do you expect it to come out? I’ve already started re reading the previous books lol.

    1. brent says:

Sorry for the misconception here, Stacey. We’ve always been on a 2 year/book schedule. They’re big, complicated books! So we’re hoping for and slated for late 2016 for the last book. (I’ve tried to be frank and upfront about this process throughout, though creative endeavors are always beset with chaos!)
